Smoky Mountain Shakes N Dawgs in Gatlinburg

Grabbed a quick shake. The quality was good and the guy behind the counter (seemed like maybe the owner) was personable and very welcoming. Wished I had grabbed one of the excellent looking hotdogs on the menu.

Oh, DOG! I come up in here on a snowy day, wet from the trail, my tail between my legs, and I was just hoping to get a bone, but I done lucked up, dog. I done walked up on hot dog Shangrila. What do I do to deserve this providence? Only God knows. I meditate. I serve others. I say my prayers in the morning and at night, but I have done nothing to deserve this. I can now die a happy man. All hyperbole falls despairingly short. Leave your wife at the altar. Steal a horse. Do whatever it takes to get to Smoky Mountain Shakes and Dogs. Waste time with no one and nothing else. Hyahhh!!! Hi ho Silver!!!

Delicious!! Best food I have had in a long time. The chili is homemade. The milkshakes are thick and hands down the best around. Our new favorite.

Gem of a stop off for a tasty dog! This place knows their dawgs and shakes. The focus is on providing an excellent assortment of hot dogs. Wow!

My family loved visiting this place. They have some very creative hot dogs. The dawgs were covered in toppings and stuffed us but we couldn't leave without trying a milkshake. We all left very satisfied and will be back!

On a scale of 1 to hotdog, this place is an 11. The menu selection has creativity, and you can be as wild as you want. At the core of every dog is the weiner, and these are good enough to stand alone. Sautéd onions, mushrooms, and cheddar dog was fantastic. Chili cheese fries were crisp and tasty. Shakes would have been worth the trip alone. If you are in the area, try this place.

Great simple food done right. The staff were very personable. We were happy we drove 15 miles to get there.

They said "one dog'll do you" and they were right! I had a dog with Mac n cheese, baked beans, and onions. It was really tasty! Prepare to be VERY full if you get a shake as well.

Good food at a good price.

Certainly one of the best milkshakes I've ever had, and the dogs here don't disappoint. Great food and friendly owners make this place a relaxing and enjoyable stop to grab a bite. Being a few miles off from the bustle of the strip makes it a perfect spot to stop and relax while you eat. One of the better hidden food gems in the area!!

Excellent food and quick service. Had burgers and a chili cheese fry dog.

Every dawg we've tried has been good.. My favorite is the pizza dawg and so far my hubby's is the philly cheese steak dawg. The milkshakes are the best.

Great place to get a hot dog. Found this place while on vacation and got a great dog. It was fresh, tasty, and the staff was great. They were friendly and patient since it was hard to decide what kind of hot dog I wanted.My wife got a shake too and I tried it... It was a really good shake.

Go here! Amish buttermilk ice cream shakes! So good! Owner is often behind the counter manning the grill, making this place just seem so local and family owned! Even their mother was helping out with shake orders. The dogs are unconventional and delicious. Well worth your stop. Did I mention the shakes?

Frills, funky hot dog joint. In this case, funky is a good thing. Best hot dogs I've ever had and, yes, that includes New York, Chicago, etc. Bratwurst, horseradish and mustard on a Pumpernickel roll... hot dog wrapped in bacon and deep-fried with chili on top... Check out the pics. They're as good as they look.UPDATE - SAD NEWS: went back this past August craving the awesome hot dogs and, alas, they had closed just a couple weeks before. Sure hope they plan to reopen, possibly at a different location (?)... but if not... the food will be sorely missed.

This place has not only AWESOME shakes but great food too with mountain hospitality!

Really good hot dogs and reasonably priced. The guy at the counter was super friendly. The peanut butter and cookie shake was delicious.

Excellent hot dogs with a great selection of toppings. The fresh strawberry milk shake is delicious. It will be a stop on all our trips to Gatlinburg from now on

We always enjoyed stopping here on our visits to the region. Unfortunately, it looks like they closed up shop on 7/31/2018. Great hot dogs - combined things you never would have considered. Bad location and just never recovered from the wildfires, apparently.

This is a local spot which serves different types of hotdogs in a few sides. It is a little bit expensive but you would expect that in this area. The food was pretty good and there are a lot of options. The staff was okay but was not the fastest when there are a lot of people in there. It's a local spot so pretty cool to be outside of the tourist area. There are tables set up inside and a few condiments to get. There is also a storage area in the back and a cool mural on the wall. Overall decent place to eat but just expect it to be considered a locals place.

Drove out here because of the great reviews but found out they were out of business when we got there. 🙁

Love their hot dogs! The best is the Cheese It dog!

The food was pretty good. It's just hard to justify $36 for four hotdogs, 3 shakes, and a fountain drink. Come on, it's a hot dog. Even though it was good, we won't visit again.

Well worth the wait! We tried this place on a chance and the dogs are great. The homemade milkshakes are to die for. Good is made to order so do not expect to get in and out in a hurry but it is worth waiting for. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back.

Small hotdog joint right off of Hwy321 in Gatlinburg. We had hotdogs and fries (no room for a shake, maybe next time!) Down-home friendly service here. They were not busy but we stopped by in between lunch and dinner. Both of our hotdogs were loaded with toppings and were really fantastic. Fries were made fresh and one order shared was plenty between my husband and I! Will definitely be back, when we are in town! Recommended for a quick bite to eat for lunch!!

Let me preface, by saying I know exactly what to expect when dining in backwoods Gatlinburg, but this place was hilariously terrible. Hot dogs were ok, but bun was stale. The guy who assembled them was nice enough, and the presentation was decent. Overpriced, however for what it is. Sodas come from a warm 2 liter bottle. Restaurant is cluttered and seems unclean. Service was slow. We went here because the reviews were decent. I don't understand in what universe a person would give this restaurant 5 stars. Again, to be clear, I am taking the culture of the area in to acccount.

I am a local... I frequent the place. People are very friendly and the food is good. Worth a stop!

Burger joint style food and is freakin' awesome! Their shakes are unbelievably good too. They have great selection of food with a crazy variety of cool signature dishes unique to their place. Staff is friendly, service is great and they have very good prices. An absolute must visit if you're in the area!

Food was great. I had the mac and cheese dog and a strawberry milkshake. By far the best milkshake I have ever had. Very interesting hot dog combos.

Great place for a dog! Had the Philly Dog and bacon & cheese dog. Wife had the chilli cheese fry dog and the all beef hot dogs and buns were delicious. Google had the open times wrong as they didn't close til 745pm. So, if it says closed call and check cause you don't want to miss out on these.

First time we were here. The building doesn't look very good, but the food was great! I want to go back and try everything!

This is my new favorite restaurant in the world. Everything was amazing. I had to go back again for another round because I liked it so much.
